Reflexology is similar to Acupuncture in that the treatment works on certain energy points to balance the energy of the body. The main theory is that the body is divided into ten reflex zones. Imagine a line drawn through the main centre of the body with five zones on either side, running the length of the body from head to toe. Energy flows constantly along these zones or pathways and in case of blockages of the energy flow, imbalances can occur, which in turn can lead to health problems. Reflexology may assist in clearing up blockages, allowing energy to circulate freely to all parts of the body and assist in helping the body to rebalance. Reflexology is thought to be beneficial for a wide variety of complaints from back pain to migraine to sleep disorders. However, it is particularly beneficial for stress related disorders, which can account for up to 75% of all illnesses. Reflexology is a calm, soothing and relaxing therapy. It is not uncommon that people fall asleep while receiving a treatment. Conditions that may benefit from Reflexology include:
Visiting your Therapist Please allow an extra 30 minutes for your first appointment to go through a confidential questionnaire, in order to give an accurate picture of your health, lifestyle and medical background. This will also give you the opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns you may about the treatment. The term 'Holistic' is derived from the Greek word "holos", meaning "whole", and as such aims to treat the whole individual, incorporating body, mind and spirit. This means that the whole person will be treated rather than concentrating on specific symptoms and problem areas. The Therapist Lena is a registered and fully insured Complementary Therapist, practising Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage and Reflexology. She trained at the The Tisserand Institute of Holistic Aromatherapy and with ITEC (The International Therapy Examination Council). She is a member of the International Council of Holistic Therapists (MICHT). Anne Tiller is a qualified and registered Reflexologist, MAR, with training from London School of Reflexology.
