What is Indian Head Massage

Massage has always been important in Indian life (found in 4000 year old Ayurvedic texts). Combined with herbs, spices and aromatic oils, it had an important medical function as well as firming skin and strengthening muscles. It was also known to encourage the body's own healing energy. Indian Head Massage springs from the tradition of family grooming. Originally it was developed by women using oils to nourish and add shine to their hair. Later barbers incorporated head massage into male grooming and this practice continues in India today. In the last decade, Indian Head Massage has become popular in the West.

Benefits of Indian Head Massage

Visiting your I.H.M Therapist

On the first visit you will be asked to complete a confidential questionnaire. The massage will be done with you sitting on a low backed chair, fully clothed (preferably wearing loose, light clothing, T-shirt etc.). I.H.M is usually done dry. Suitable oils will be recommended for hair or scalp complaints. Your Indian Head Massage takes about 30 minutes and it will leave you fully relaxed as well as energy revived!
